VALDOSTA STATE MAGAZINE 35 At Valdosta State University, the personal and professional achievements of our 65,000-plus Blazer Nation alumni are celebrated every day. Whether they were part of our humble beginnings as South Georgia State Normal College in 1913, or our continued evolution as Georgia State Woman’s College in 1922, Valdosta State College in 1950, and Valdosta State University in 1993, we know that our alumni are a vital part of our future, not just our past. They are some of our most loyal supporters. They are our ambassadors, sharing their knowledge of the institution with their hometowns and countries and with their professional and social networks. They are role models for our current students. They are leaders who are eager to help their fellow Blazers realize their dreams. They are part of a network of students, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni, and friends dedicated to nurturing and supporting our tradition of academic, service, creative, athletic, and research excellence. They make us proud. Get ready to catch up with four members of our Blazer Nation family — Ashley Bell, Sara Beth Hobbs, Vernon Keenan, and Aimee Leonards. INTRODUCTION BY JESSICA R.
