The retail pharmacy at the Student Health Center is an integral link in the total health care provided. The dispensing of medications and counseling on their proper use compliments the diagnostic process begun by the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and medical technologist.  Medications are dispensed by a Georgia licensed pharmacist and must be paid for at time of service and/or when dispensed.

The formulary is set by the Formulary Committee made up of the pharmacist, medical director, administrator, and nursing supervisor. The provider will write you a prescription for medications that are not on our formulary.  The patient will also be responsible for paying for the prescription.

In our total managed care system, computers are used to check drug to drug interactions and patient history of drug allergies. Computers are also used to keep track of patient medication history.

The retail pharmacy accepts credit, debit and flex payments.  Cash can be placed on your flex card at the Student Union or Langdale.

Over-The-Counter Medication/Products

SHC offers over-the-counter medications for students, faculty, and staff through our convenient online store. Students, faculty, and staff can visit the to purchase over-the-counter medications to help minor health concerns such as coughs, colds, allergies, sore throats, cold sores, headaches, nausea, and more. Customers can order medications online and then pick their orders up at the Student Health Center Pharmacy during Pharmacy hours.  If you have a special order, you can speak to the Pharmacist and if the Pharmacist can order the item, it can be picked up the next business day.  Special orders must be paid for prior to the order being placed.

Prescription Refills

If you are being seen in the health center and are out of refills, you must make an appointment to see a provider to have a new prescription written.  Refills by an outside provider can be submitted through your outside provider.
