Description: The American Library Association New Members Roundtable (NMRT) is a roundtable for those who have been members of ALA for fewer than ten years and are looking to augment their involvement in ALA. In addition to providing you with the means to develop as a new professional through committee work, conference programs, and other year-round services, NMRT provides numerous venues for you to make connections with colleagues, learn from mentors, and even form lifelong friendships. NMRT can help jump-start your library career like few other groups can.

Description: The ASL Club at Valdosta State University promotes awareness of American Sign Language and Deaf culture within the ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app and greater Valdosta community. Membership is open to any enrolled student with an interest in sign language. The ASL Club at ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app partners with the South Georgia Deaf Community on a variety of service and social activities throughout the academic year.

Future Black Educators

Description: Future Black Educators or FBE is an organization geared towards African American students who have potential and the desire to teach the next generation of students. It is designed to prepare current Ed majors for GACE, give them tangible sources to serve within their communities, and connect with other education students in hopes to encourage one another to press on towards the goal of being an educator.

Latinx & Indigenous Future Educators (L&IFE)

Description: Latinx & Indigenous Future Educators (L&IFE) is a student-led organization towards Latinx and Indigenous students who have the desire to teach the next generation of students. The L&IFE Club mission is to promote diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and fostering future Latinx and Indigenous educators. The L&IFE club is to build professional acumen, facilitate career development opportunities, and foster a sense of community among future Latinx educator students at the undergraduate levels at Valdosta State University.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association at ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app

Description: Founded in 1972, the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association is the national organization for master's candidates and undergraduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication behavior. NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). NSSLHA membership has over 18,000 members and more than 350 chapters in colleges and universities. Our local chapter was recognized as an official student organization at ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app in 1998.

Description: SPAGE is the Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators, it is an organization under the direction and guidance of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. The basic purpose of the Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE) is to assist students in examining their career opportunities in their specific field of education, participating in exploratory activities in this field and in studying and becoming involved in educational issues.

 

Description: The American Library Association Joint Student Membership program was created to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.  Forty-six chapters partner with ALA to offer the joint student membership program, allowing students to join one Chapter and ALA for one low price. ALA recognizes that the best way to grow and strengthen its outreach is through personal memberships that encourage concurrent involvement in Chapter and ALA activities.
