Classes
Students will be placed in a First-Year Learning Community.
Below are the classes that are being offered through the Fall 2024 Ignite Program.
ENGL 1101 (3 hours)
Composition I
A composition course focusing on skills required for effective writing in a variety of contexts, with emphasis on exposition, analysis, and argumentation, and also including introductory use of a variety of research skills. Students will develop analytical and evaluative skills by reading and writing expository and/or argumentative essays.
FYSE 1101 (3 hours)
First-Year Seminar Experience
FYSE 1101 is a seminar course focusing on contemporary and enduring questions that engage students in intellectual inquiry and academic life while encouraging critical thinking skills and metacognitive reflection. FYSE 1101 course are offered on a variety of topics.
PSYC 1101 (3 hours)
Introduction to General Psychology
A general survey course designed to introduce the student to fundamental methods and content of contemporary psychology. PSYC 1101 is required all of Psychology majors.
HIST 2112 (3 hours)
U.S. History since 1865
A survey of the major political, economic, social, and cultural developments in the United States and Georgia since 1865. The course is divided into four units, each unit covering a specific time period in American History after 1865. *Either HIST 2111 or HIST 2112 satisfies legislative requirements for U.S./Georgia History.
