WordPress (WP) is an easy-to-use, theme-based web editor offered to Valdosta State University employees and official student organizations who wish to create individual, purpose-driven blogs and websites with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) interface. In other words, you do not need to know how to code to create attractive, professional-looking sites. In addition to the default themes, users may purchase additional themes/plugins to customize their sites. Discuss your unique needs with Web Services.
What WordPress Is Not
·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app WordPress is not a replacement for colleges, departments, or program websites developed in Cascade that are published to Valdosta State University main site at . Nor is it a replacement for instructional content and learning modules that are better suited for BlazeVIEW or GoVIEW, the University’s online learning management systems. ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app WordPress sites cannot be used for personal commerce or to post or promote illegal or inappropriate content.
Content published must abide by the University’s Information Resources Acceptable Use Policy.
How to Request a ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app WordPress Site
·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app employees and official student organizations can email Web Services at webservices@valdosta.edu to request an individual WordPress site; include the following information:
- Your name and ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app username
- The purpose for the site and the intended audience
- A site name (short and memorable; example: blog.valdosta.edu/blaze)
- The requested name may be changed if it is already taken.
- Unique domain names (ex. ) can be purchased with approval and at the expense of the department, faculty, staff or student organization.
Your new Valdosta State University blog web address typically will be:
https://blog.valdosta.edu/your-site-name.
