Arizona State University
Dr. Linda de la Garza is an associate professor of Chemistry at Valdosta State University. She received her doctorate in Chemistry from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. She worked as a post-doctoral appointee at Argonne National Laboratory, located in the Southwest Chicago suburbs. At ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app, she teaches college students from first year to senior year. She works with students on research projects, sponsoring students' work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app on April each year. Her research interests involve the study of properties of semiconductors at the nanoparticle level using a variety of spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques in order to provide insights on the fields of energy conversion and catalysis. She mentors, and advises students about their career plans and their goals. She is the faculty advisor of the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS), a student organization focused on developing student's professional skills while promoting science in community events. She has served as President and Councilor of the Southwest Georgia Section of the ACS. She is part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in the sciences (LSAMP) team at ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app. Dr. de la Garza was recognized with the ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app College of Science and Mathematics Assessment Award in 2020 and participated in the 2019-2020 ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app Leadership Academy. Born and raised in Mexico, she moved to the USA in 1998.
