Jessica Millican
Family Works Clinical Coordinator
Jessica Millican is the Clinical Coordinator of FamilyWorks, the university-based, brief therapy center for the ·¬ÇÑÖ±²¥app Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program. Jessica is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia and also an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate. She earned her graduate degree from Valdosta State University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program.
She has a therapeutic background in both inpatient and outpatient co-occurring mental health/substance abuse treatment. She also has worked at a private counseling practice in Valdosta, GA providing affordable and systemic therapy to people in the community. Her experience has led to her interest in several treatment issues, specifically LGBTQ+ issues and substance abuse. As a therapist, Jessica works with her clients by implementing collaborative, client-centered interventions. Her therapeutic approach is informed by general systems theory with an emphasis on postmodernism. In the therapy room, she places a focus on language and stories. She aims to help her clients to feel more empowered in their lives, build upon their strengths, and create change in their relationship to their problems. She aims to improve cultural humility by intentionally engaging topics of diversity and inclusion in her work.
